Unwanted medications pile up in Germantown

More than 90 pounds of unwanted prescription medications were collected today by Germantown police.

Nine area churches served as the drop-off locations.

The amount of drugs are still being calculated, but they’ll be disposed of with the help of a Montgomery County RANGE Task Force officer.

The Valley View Community Drug-Free Coalition is also supporting the effort in Germantown to fight the epidemic of substance abuse and addiction, an effort that includes churches, schools, police and other members of the community.

A community meeting aimed at sharing resources for addicts and families of addicts is set for 6:30 p.m. June 21 at the First Church of God, 760 Farmersville Germantown Pike.
