Surveillance video just released shows one of the suspects pointing a gun.

It also shows one of the suspects trying to break into the cash register, but it jammed. That’s when they punch the clerk before running out the door.

The clerk, still coughing from the attack, immediately called 911.

“They just ran away ... they came in with pepper spray and stuff,” she told dispatchers.

The trio left empty-handed.

The multiple camera angles and high-quality video made it easier for officers to find two of the suspects that same night. It also will help prosecutors build the case against them, Springfield police Lt. Lou Turner said.

“It’s almost indisputable of what they can say happen or didn’t happen,” he said.

Jamari Stephens, 18, of Springfield, is in the Clark County Jail, charged with aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence. He has pleaded not guilty.

A juvenile also has been charged, and is in juvenile detention.

A third person has not been identified by police.

“It’s still an ongoing investigation,” Turner said. “He is not in custody at this time. I would say in the near future, he’ll also be taken in custody.”
