Woman rams meter maid to avoid a tow

A woman whose car was being towed Friday morning rammed a meter maid's vehicle, injuring the officer.

The parking enforcement officer ordered a tow at 10:10 a.m. Friday of a green 2005 Ford Taurus parked at an expired meter in the 200 block of South Wilkinson Street. A patrol officer also responded to ensure safety, according to a Dayton police report.

When the tow truck arrived, a woman, identified as 23-year-old Lanashia M. Parker, came running and screaming. She begged and pleaded to not have her car towed.

The parking officer refused because the car was on a tow list for six unpaid tickets. In addition, the car's plates were registered to another vehicle, according to the police report.

Both officers got in their vehicles to move them for the tow truck when Parker ran to her car, started the engine and then rammed the parking officer's vehicle behind her car.

The patrol officer got out of his cruiser and ordered Parker out of her car. She complied and was arrested.

The parking enforcement officer suffered a back injury in the crash; she was taken to the hospital to be examined, the report stated.

Parker was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of felonious assault. She is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon, online jail records show.
