“IT” was released in theaters in early September to rave reviews which helped the movie rake in more than $117 million in its first weekend, according to movie website Rotten Tomatoes. The movie had the biggest opening weekend of any ones ever released in September or October.
The fandom is what probably helped IT propel to the No. 1 costume spot in stores this year, the Foys said.
“They were the hardest ones to get because they can’t make them fast enough,” Mike Foy said of IT costumes.
Along with Pennywise, another silver screen giant is selling well this fall.

Wonder Woman seems to be the most popular costume for women this Halloween, said Darla Foy. Superheores are always popular but the heroine seems to have risen in popularity this year because thanks to her big screen debut.
Red riding hood, Batman, the Black Panther and pirates have maintained their top spots as well this year while a costume newcomer is also selling well at Foy’s.
A few inflatable costumes are in high demand this fall. Inflatable costumes, such as a T-Rex popularized on the internet, have become extremely popular, Darla Foy said.
The inflatable T-Rex sells for nearly $80 while an inflatable baby costume sells for about $140, she said.

With Halloween on Tuesday, this week will be “crunch time” at Foy’s Halloween stores, said Mike Foy. But, the stores will stay open until midnight this Friday and Saturday for anyone who waits until the last minute.
“It’s getting to be that last minute scare for everybody,” said Darla Foy. “But, we try to keep it stocked up all the way through this weekend.”
