Dayton fluids company is hiring

Chemineer — a unit of Robbins & Myers that was sold to National Oilwell Varco in May 2013 — is adding employees, the company said Tuesday.

Robbins & Myers made parts for the oil, chemical, pharmaceutical and other industrial markets. Chemineer Inc. makes equipment for fluid agitation applications.

Springfield-based Moyno also was part of the 2013 sale to National Oilwell Varco in Houston.

Fracking — or hydraulic fracturing — in oil extraction helped drive Robbins & Myers’ business and growth before it was sold. Together with horizontal drilling, the practice has increased American oil and natural gas production in recent years.

Robbins & Myers was based in downtown Dayton, then at The Greene in Beavercreek, before it moved its headquarters and administrative staff to the Houston area in late 2011. The company had about 3,300 employees at the time of the move.

Since National Oilwell Varco acquired Chemineer, the Dayton facility has grown by about 23 percent from 150 to 185, the company said.

“We anticipate adding another 10-15 employees over the next few months, including manufacturing, engineering, and customer service,” Chemineer said in a statement.

Applications are being accepted at www.chemineer.com and at the company’s 5870 Poe Avenue facility, the business said.

Also Tuesday, the company said it has installed new signage at its Poe facility, easily visible to motorists on Interstate 75, especially on the interstate’s northbound side.
