The Financial Protection Bureau, a government agency formed July 2011 in the aftermath of the national economic crisis, announced 25 appointments this week to form a board that advises the bureau on consumer financial issues and emerging market trends, according to the local housing group.
“I am honored to have been appointed to serve on the first ever Consumer Advisory Board to the CFPB,” said McCarthy, who is also chair of the board of directors of the National Fair Housing Alliance in Washington, D.C.
The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act charges the financial protection bureau with establishing a Consumer Advisory Board to advise and consult with the bureau’s director on various consumer financial issues.
Community Bank, Credit Union and Academic Research councils were also named by the consumer bureau. Jack Hartings of The Peoples Bank Co. and Rose Bartolomucci of Towpath Credit Union were named to those boards.
