A Dayton woman struck and killed Saturday night by a train on a trestle in Kentucky.

Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Jack Arnold on Sunday identified the victim as 26-year-old Roquel Bain.

Louisville Metro Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley told media outlets that Bain and a man were walking on the trestle in the 3100 block of South Pope Lick Road in eastern Jefferson County on Saturday. Bain was struck by a Norfolk Southern train and fell off the trestle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The coroner said Bain and her boyfriend were visiting to do a paranormal tour at Waverly Hills. They decided to visit the railroad tracks beforehand because of an urban legend, CBS affiliate WLKY-TV in Louisville reported.

The urban legend refers to a creature that many people have reported seeing on the trestles over Pope Lick Creek, the Pope Lick Monster. The creature is said to be half human and half goat.

Officials said the man said the pair hung off the side of the train trestle when a train approached. The man was able to move, but Bain wasn’t quick enough and fell 80 to 100 feet to her death. Bain died from blunt force trauma. The man survived with no injuries. Alcohol and drugs are not suspected. Funeral arrangements have been made at Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home in Springfield, WLKY reported.
