Ed Angi, 58, of Dayton, was a longtime worker at the store at 351 Wilmington Ave. who died today of injuries suffered when he was struck while riding his bicycle around 11:45 p.m. Thursday in the 2400 block of Revere Avenue.
“Ed was a wonderful guy and I just really hope that someone, whoever might have seen this, can find it in their heart to turn in the person that might have done this,” said Chris Schlater, area supervisor for Domino’s Pizza in Dayton. “We’d really like to offer to the public a free pizza every week for an entire year if we can get sometone to turn in some information that leads to the arrest of the person that ran him over.”
Schlater said Angi was riding his bicycle from his apartment Thursday night to a nearby gas station convenience store when police said he was struck by a black BMW that fled the scene. He died at the hospital this morning.
“Ed worked here for about 10 years and he was a family member to a lot of us here. Ed could be having the worst day imaginable and he would still have a smile on his face and tell you how everything’s perfect and how happy he was to be here,” Schlater said.
The store decided to offer pizza to help solve the crime, and will be posting the reward on its Facebook page, he said.
“We’d like to do more than that, but this is the least we can do for such a good person,” Schlater said.
