The Dutch Lions and the school district have called a news conference for Wednesday morning.
The Dayton Daily News reported last year that the Dutch Lions were considering locations in the area to build a professional soccer stadium and youth complex. One of those sites was in Washington Twp.
But the Dutch Lions are no longer considering a site in that township, said Koen Driessen, business development manager for the organization. He declined to discuss specifics of Wednesday’s announcement, as did Clifford.
The Dutch Lions have played their home games at Beavercreek High School, as it fits the minimum requirements the organization must meet, Driessen said.
The Dutch Lions also have partnerships with other area schools including Miami Valley School for practices and games, according to their website.
The Dutch Lions and the West Carrolton schools have a long-term agreement to make the high school property on Student Street the new home of the Dutch Lions FC for the Academy and pro teams, according to the organization’s website.
The partnership will allow the Dutch Lions to build a facility in the “European style,” according to the website.
