Today we’re kicking off a month of special coverage as we work to make the Dayton Daily News even better for you, our readers.

Twice a week all month we are dedicating more space to detailed investigations into the topics you told us were most important to our region. It starts with today's article about the latest scams targeting area residents. This was the most-requested topic by our readers.

Other topics we’re investigating this month include potential threats posed by chemicals in our local drinking water; what local schools are doing to keep students safe; and how the Dayton school district spends its $250 million annual budget. Later in the month look for a series of articles on the latest crime trends hitting the region. We are the only media outlet with reporters assigned specifically to cover each local community, and that team of reporters is looking at crime trends community by community.

Our staff works hard to make the Dayton Daily News excellent 365 days a year and to keep DaytonDailyNews.com always up-to-date with the latest local news. We are always working to improve the Dayton Daily News and to better serve our community.

If you have an investigation you think we should tackle, let me know at jim.bebbington@coxinc.com.
