Event to teach residents how to prepare for severe weather

The Monroe Fire Department will sponsor a severe weather symposium for Monroe residents this month.

The Butler County EMA, the Red Cross, Duke Energy and meteorologists will discuss how to prepare for severe weather in the minutes, hours and days before an event.

“We’ve seen an increase in aggressive weather over the last several years, so we think this is a good opportunity to sit down with our residents and give them some good information so they can better protect themselves and hopefully pre-plan,” said John Centers, Monroe Fire Chief.

The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 26 at the Monroe High School auditorium, 220 Yankee Road.
