Fidelity plans more jobs after move to Moraine

Kettering business has added hundreds of jobs since 2011.

A growing health care company plans new jobs after moving its headquarters and about 250 workers from Kettering to a larger site using an incentive package offered by Moraine.

The Premier Health Partners subsidiary Fidelity Health Care, which has seen significant employment growth in recent years, expects to add jobs after moving this year to Moraine, officials said. That city’s council voted to give the home health care firm $400,000 to move a $12 million payroll across Kettering Boulevard, records show.

“There are plans for growth over the next couple of years,” Diane Ewing, Premier’s system vice president for marketing and communications, said of Fidelity. ”We do anticipate new jobs.”

While lacking specific or estimated numbers, Ewing said Fidelity expects growth to continue. Since 2011, the company has gone from more than 350 jobs to employing more than 600, she said.

“That’s a pretty big percentage,” Ewing said.

Fidelity provides home care services for a variety of patient needs ranging from independent care to serving clients with acute or chronic illnesses. It focuses on the Miami Valley and serves a 17-county area from the Cincinnati area to Clark and Champaign counties, according to its website.

The jobs expected to move later this year from 3832 Kettering Blvd. to 3170 Kettering Blvd. would be operations positions in accounting, human resources and other departments, Ewing said. Fidelity’s remaining employees spend the vast majority of their time away from its headquarters, she said.

The jobs moving to Moraine have an average salary of $50,000 per year, city officials said.

“The city is delighted to have a company of the quality and stability of Fidelity moving in,” Moraine City Manager David Hicks stated in a email. “They have demonstrated a very strong commitment to the region and we believe they will be a great corporate citizen of Moraine.”

As part of the deal, Fidelity would purchase three buildings, said Moraine Economic Development Director Michael Davis. Two of the buildings include 80,000 square feet of office space, while the third has 10,000 square feet of storage space, he said.

In return, the city is offering a 25 percent payroll reimbursement over five years for Fidelity. Moraine would pay Fidelity $75,000 annually for five years beginning in February 2017, Moraine documents show. A sixth payment of $25,000 would be due June 30, 2021, records show.

Two properties owned by LM Berry Services Inc. at 3170 Kettering Blvd. are valued at $1.61 million and $1.55 million, respectively, according to the Montgomery County Auditor’s Office website. But Ewing said she did know how much Fidelity would pay for the land.

The need for more office, parking and storage space were all factors in Fidelity’s decision to move, Ewing said. The space to store equipment made the choice to move easier, she said.

“Fidelity does a lot of durable medical equipment business – the DME business – so they needed storage,” Ewing said. “And this new site…has a big storage building on the property. So that was very attractive from a storage standpoint.“

The move will give Fidelity 300 to 400 parking spaces, said Davis, who noted the company has been renting areas for employee vehicles.

If all goes well, Ewing said, Fidelity plans to move by early summer. The company will occupy space vacated with the move to Kettering last year by The Berry Co., which took with it nearly 300 jobs.
