Fragmented reality

I am puzzled about Butler County's voting habits. I wonder how a county full of mostly middle-class, working-class people can be fooled into buying John Boehner's snake-oil sales and vote against their own interests and help out the party of a guy who golfs 119 times a year. That's a lot of golf. We keep voting for him because of ... nothing. He doesn't like your unions. He doesn't like the fact you have decent-paying jobs. He doesn't care about you, but you vote for him anyway. Does he hypnotize you to think that one day you'll be as rich as him and his buddies? That's not the case. Start thinking about yourself and not this fragmented reality that doesn't exist. John Boehner is not in your best interests. He never will be. He's never has been ... You keep voting him in there and you keep wondering why you've got no jobs. ...

Remember, after 9/11, how many flags were sold and everyone hung their flags out to show that they were proud to be Americans? What has happened in our town? Not even businesses in town have flags out. Please ask them to put their flags back out. We need to still be proud to be Americans. Our country is having problems but we, as citizens, can show we support our troops by just waving our flags.

I know that the police and highway patrol are out looking for (people) driving under the influence or driving under drugs, but why don't they take a look at driving under the influence of a cell phone? I have driven by people talking on cell phones and had to dodge them because they weave. ...

I am sick and tired of The Journal printing articles from Clarence Page, (such as) July 23's "The two faces of the Tea Party." Let's put the two faces of the NAACP in The Journal as well. Let's get some conservative commentaries as well. (I didn't like) The article by Leonard Pitts July 23 where he supports the building of a mosque near Ground Zero. What's the matter with you? Clean up your newspaper. Put some conservative ideas in there as well as your liberal trash.

When the government gave General Motors and Chrysler their bailouts, they closed so many dealerships and factories. The one new factory that GM built is a 3 million square-foot factory in Canada. That's what we call "globalization of the economy." When they get our economy down on the same level of Mexico and these other countries, then we won't have to worry about Arizona's immigration law. They will all be trying to go back to Mexico.

In regard to our new councilman involved in a scuffle: Middletown is in a mess financially. Our town really doesn't have a good name and now we have a council member who is acting so unprofessionally. That's another bad mark against Middletown. I am really disappointed. I hope that we choose our council people correctly. ... I thought it was great that we had young people on the council, but I guess I was wrong.
