Franklin residents will see an increase on their trash bills starting Oct. 1.
Council approved a resolution Monday to increase the city’s trash rates by 35 cents to $16.24 per unit, which includes the $13.53 collection cost and the $2.71 city administrative fee.
The city is exercising its first of three, one-year renewal options that was included in the initial three-year contract with Rumpke that was approved in 2014.
Franklin will have two more one-year options to renew the contract after this year, according to Public Works Director Steve Inman.
While the trash rate was increased, the price of toters, tire pick-up, and excess trash collection are not being increased this year, according to Inman.
