Future Of Ohio E-Check Program Uncertain

The future of Ohio’s E-Check Testing Program is as cloudy as the air the state is trying to clear.

The Auto Emissions Program in 14 counties expires at the end of the year. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency will begin talks with lawmakers within the next few weeks to decide whether to renew E-Check for 2006.

Some environmentalists suggest imposing more pollution restrictions on industrial plants.

Manufacturers said they should not have to make up for car pollution.
