UD gets high marks in U.S. News 2019 college rankings

U.S. News & World Report has released its annual college rankings and the University of Dayton was named to lists in several categories.

UD was ranked among one of the “Best Values” in higher education. UD took the No. 53 spot in the category, coming in just before DePaul University in Chicago.

“The latest U.S. News rankings continue to demonstrate that UD is an affordable, top-tier Catholic institution that provides a ‘best value’ educational experience to position our graduates for impact and success,” said Jason Reinoehl, vice president for enrollment management at UD.

In the overall category of “Best National Universities,” UD tied for No. 127, with San Diego State University.

The university was also considered an “A+ school for B students” meaning UD accepted a number of non-A students while still being ranked among the top three quarters of its peer institutions, according to U.S. News.

Several factors helped UD achieve its rankings on the U.S. News list, said Robert Morse, chief data strategist at U.S. News.

“University of Dayton performed well in alumni giving rate and grad rate performance,” Morse said.

Here are the categories UD was ranked in.

• No. 53 in the best value category among national universities.

• No. 127 in the overall best national universities category. (two-way tie)

• No. 132 for best engineering schools with a doctoral program. (14-way tie)

• No. 172 for best overall undergraduate business programs. (27-way tie)
