Historic Woody’s Store To Be Demolished

It was once the most popular independent grocery store in the area, especially known for baked goods. Now the long-vacant Woody’s Market in West Carrollton will be torn down.

Officials said the structure will be torn down to make room for a new business to be built.

Thursday was an emotional day for former employees of the landmark.

The store closed in 1999 after 55 years of service. Now the two co-owners of a Taste of Elegance will build a huge new store at the site.

The new Taste of Elegance will be four times larges than the current store.

The demolition company is waiting for a final release from the Regional Air Pollution Control Agency before tearing Woody’s down.

Once the demolition starts, they expect the property will be ready for new construction in six weeks.
