Houston Rescue still answering calls despite fire

Authorities said flames damage the Houston squad building early Tuesday morning in Shelby County.

The facility is located at 5125 Russia-Houston Road. Authorities said a neighbor called 911 after hearing the sound of breaking glass and explosions.

The flames were quickly brought under control, but the building and two squads were heavily damaged.

No one was injured in the fire.

Fire officials said the fire is not considered suspicious, at this time. The county fire chief, the state fire marshal’s office and an investigator from the federal Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agency is investigating the cause of the fire.

At this time, there is no dollar estimate on damage, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Authorities said squad service in the Houston area has not been disrupted. They are currently using a third squad that was parked at a different location.

Also, Houston is receiving mutual aid from other departments, if needed. According to authorities, medics would be using another squad borrowed from somewhere else by the end of the day.
