Jeep driver hits mailbox, stop sign and pole in rollover wreck

A 40-year-old Richmond, Indiana, man was taken to an area hospital Friday night after a rollover crash.

Mike Black was headed east in a 2014 Jeep Wrangler on South A Street around 7:45 p.m. when he turned south onto South 23rd Street. As he turned, the Jeep left the east side of the road, striking a mailbox and stop sign. The driver over corrected and the Jeep then swerved across the west side, then swerved back east and off the road a second time, striking a utility pole and rolling onto its side, according to preliminary investigation by the Indiana State Police.

Black suffered a head injury, cuts and abrasions and was taken to Reid Health Hospital in Richmond. His injuries are described as not life-threatening, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing. In addition to ISP, Richmond police also responded to the scene.
