TIME magazine has released its list of the Top 100 Most Influential People of 2017, and Springfield native John Legend has made the list.
It was revealed Thursday morning that Legend was on the list and one of five to be on the cover of the 100 Most Influential People issue.
As is tradition, the honorees have a few lines written about them by an equally famous peer. Harry Belafonte, singer, actor and civil rights activist, wrote, “Legend is a wonderful artist.”
“John uses his platform to push for meaningful social change, and the depth of his commitment is to be admired,” he wrote
Legend, a Springfield North High graduate, donated $500,000 for the renovation of a 700-seat auditorium at the Springfield Center for Innovation: The Dome.
The project, which cost a total of $2 million, was completed in 2016, and Legend attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
