A spokesman for a sandwich shop say the owners’ plans call for adding three to five more restaurants across the Dayton area over the next five years.

That's the word from Dustin Griffiths, director of real estate for Which Wich Superior Sandwiches. The Dallas, Texas-based sandwich chain opened a 30-seat restaurant at 5409 Cornerstone North Blvd. in April.

“Dayton has been on our radar for a number of years,” Griffiths said. “We’re very excited about opening our first location in Centerville.”

The Cornerstone of Centerville site was appealing because the retail center’s anchor stores — Costco Wholesale, Kroger and Cabela’s — bring in large numbers of shoppers, Griffiths said. The Miami Valley Hospital South nearby provides “daytime population” that retailers covet, and the area has plenty of residential population as well.

A second Which Wich location is in the early stages of development in the North Fairfield Road/Beavercreek area, Griffiths said, although he did not identify the location any more specifically because no leases or contracts have yet been signed. If all goes as envisioned, however, a second Which Wich could open in that corridor in early 2019, the chain’s real-estate director said.

“We could see three to five stores in the next five years,” Griffiths said.

Which Wich opened its first restaurant in Dallas in 2003. It now operates nearly 450 locations, including two in the Cincinnati area. The menu includes specialty sandwiches such as the “Ultimate BLT,” Philly Cheesesteak, Superfood Wich, Meatball Grinder, Cobb Salad Wrap, Reuben and Gyro.

Which Wich joins a handful of other national and regional restaurant chains that chose to open their first or only Dayton-area restaurants in the Cornerstone of Centerville development, located at Wilmington Pike and Feedwire Road near I-675. Those first-in-market restaurants include Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, CoreLife Eatery, Panda Express and Bagger Dave’s Burger Tavern. Two other chains — Zoup and MOD Pizza — opened their second Dayton-area locations in Cornerstone within the last six months.
