Lima Man Charged In Series Of Walmart Thefts

A Lima man is facing multiple felony charges in connection with thefts from the local Walmart Supercenter.

He is Dennis R. McGinnis, 28, 726 N. Main Street, Apt. 2, Lima, Ohio, taken into custody last week, after video surveillance footage showed him removing items from Walmart through the store’s Garden Center.

McGinnis would bundle merchandise together and tie a rope to the bundle. He would then climb the steel shelving units along with outside fence of the Garden Center and use the rope to pull the bundled items up behind him. He would then lower it over the 20 foot fence, and climb down the outside wall of shelving. A waiting vehicle would then pick up the suspect and merchandise.

The suspect struck the Celina Walmart in this manner on three separate occasions between March 6, 2011 and March 9, 2011.

The Celina Police Department investigation also led to McGinnis being identified as a suspect at Walmart locations in other communities. The information is being passed on to the appropriate law enforcement agencies.

The Celina police is continuing its follow up investigation and there is a possibility of charges being filed on other suspects.
