"Is cancelling on the table? It absolutely has to be," Executive Director Jerry Snodgrass said.

Further decisions for winter sports are anticipated to be made in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Snodgrass acknowledged the importance of schools and school activities in the lives of students, but stated OSHAA will make decisions with the health of students and mandates of Governor DeWine in mind.

"I cannot put students at risk for this," said Snodgrass.

Spring high school athletes will not have an additional year of eligibility the same way an additional year was granted to college spring athletes by the NCAA.

OSHAA anticipates losing 1.4 to 1.5 million in postponing winter sports, saying 80 percent of their revenue comes from ticket sales.

OSHAA reminded those who do not support their decisions that they are not limiting student opportunities, the virus is.
