A news release from Yellow Springs schools says the board will give Holden a three-year contract, taking effect Aug. 1.
“The board saw a number of excellent candidates, but in the end, Terri Holden was our unanimous choice to be the new superintendent of our schools,” school board President Steven Conn said in a statement. “We were impressed by her deep understanding of curricular issues, by her self-evident capacities for empathy and understanding, and by her passion for kids and education. The fact that she was also the first choice of those people who attended our community forum only makes us more confident that she’s the right choice to be our district’s leader.”

According to Yellow Springs officials, Holden was a high school principal in both Winton Woods and Norwood schools. She was an assistant principal in Mason and Glen Este schools and also taught high school and eighth-grade English.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Cincinnati, a master’s degree in Education and Reading from Mount St. Joseph University and a doctoral degree in Literacy in 1997 from the University of Cincinnati.
