Under David’s leadership of the HBA, Citirama and Rehabarama events have revitalized many of Dayton’s historic neighborhoods, focused positive local, state and national attention on Dayton and, since 1995, brought well over $20 million in private sector investment to the city.
David’s work in community redevelopment has been recognized by the City of Dayton, CityWide Development Corporation, Preservation Dayton, Inc., the United States Conference of Mayors, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. He was the 1998 recipient of the City of Dayton’s Outstanding Community Service Award. David has been involved in the management of not-for-profit organizations since 1974.
David Bohardt is a native of Dayton, the oldest of 11 children, and grew up on Missouri Avenue on the East Side in the Walnut Hills neighborhood. Currently, he and his wife, Jane Applegate, live in Dayton’s Hillview neighborhood.
David is a registered Democrat, running as an Independent.
