Five Englewood employees made more than $100,000 last year, putting the city's pay scale above comparably sized cities, according to a searchable database of payroll records assembled by the I-Team.

Englewood has about 13,457 residents, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The towns of Clayton and West Carrollton, by comparison, have 13,170 and 13,018, respectively. They only have one person each in the $100K club. Englewood does have a larger city budget, though, according to state audits.

Englewood’s five highest-paid employees in 2015 were:

1. City Manager Eric Smith: $148,506

2. Police and Public Service Director Mark Brownfield: $114,676

3. Fire and Rescue Director Elmer Bergman: $110,157

4. Finance Director Janine Cooper: $105,995

5. Community and Economic Development Director William Singer: $103,860

Local governments make payroll with your money. That's why the I-Team is using Ohio public records laws to assemble and analyze payroll data for governments across our region. Read our larger analysis of six-figure salaries across Miami Valley governments here.
