Hollywood actor Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will perform a USO concert Saturday at Wright-Patterson, according to base officials.

Open to those who have a Department of Defense identification card, the free concert was set to take the stage at 7 p.m. in Hangar 4016 in Area A, according to base spokesman Daryl Mayer. Concert goers can drive through Gate 26A, off Ohio Route 235, from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Sinise was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of Lt. Dan Taylor in the hit 1994 film “Forrest Gump,” a coming of age story with actor Tom Hanks. Today, Sinise stars in the CBS television series “Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.”

The Lt. Dan Band has played around the world in more than 335 performances and more than 145 USO tours. The 12-member cover band plays pop, rock, blues, country, soul, Motown, and 1940s-style Big Band music.

No video or audio recordings, backpacks, chairs, or ice coolers will be allowed, according to Wright-Patterson.

The USO Foundation and the Gary Sinise Foundation are sponsoring the event.
