American Pro Tackle and Archery opens

American Pro Tackle & Archery opened its doors to the public at 8 West Main St. on March 16.

Owners Boyd and Annie Stevens have recruited Fairborn native Shannon Tackett as the store’s general manager and archery expert; and former owner of Sugar Creek Archery, Jack Sullivan, to facilitate the archery portion of the business.

What the business does: Tackett said American Pro Tackle & Archery is a hometown, family-run fishing tackle and archery shop that provides live bait, rods, reels, lures, compound bows, recurve bows, crossbows, arrows, bow and arrow repair and customization services. He said that they also focus on customer service, product knowledge, and handle special orders for customers

How the business started: "The idea came to life when Annie, who is the store's administrator, suggested that Scott turn one of his passions into a local small business. Scott is an avid tournament fisherman and outdoorsman," said Tackett.

In the future: Tackett said that the store will eventually be expanding and will be adding camouflage gear and cold weather gear such as Carhartts. They will also be working on expanding their reach by adding an online store to their website, but they will constantly be focused on the local fisherman, archers and outdoorsmen. They are also planning local programs and events to educate people about nature, fishing, and archery.
