“I’ve still got my animals and stuff in there yet and I’ve got to figure out what I’m going to do for a place to stay,” said Joe Ambroz, who said he was standing outside the mobile home when the storm hit this afternoon.
Ambroz said the tree came crashing down into the living room.
“The whole roof caved in. Drywall and everything,” Ambroz said.
Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell said he was tracking what appeared to be a microburst travelling through the Riverside area around 3:30 p.m.
A microburst is a localized column of sinking air within a thunderstorm that is usually less than or equal to 2.5 miles in diameter and can cause damage at the surface.
Ambroz said his cat, dog and two cages of birds were still trapped in the house, while he waits for DP&L to remove a live wire from the house.
Ambroz is still working to determine what his living arrangements will be following the damage to his house.
