The Better Business Bureau recommends:
- Establish a relationship with a mechanic before you need one.
- Ask a friend or relative to recommend mechanics they have used
- Find out if the mechanic has professional certifications from industry associations
- Check to see that the shops are well-organized and up-to-date, with steady business
- Provide detailed information to your mechanic about your vehicle problem
- Request a written estimate, and confirm that work will not be done without your approval
- Have the mechanic explain what will be done in terms you can understand
- Get a detailed print-out of the work performed, including parts and labor costs, warranties or service guarantees
Check out companies by visiting the Better Business Bureau website, www.bbb.org. You can call 937-222-5825 or 800-776-5301
