At 7:01 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn., as well as several other cities across the United States, bells rang out marking the exact time King was shot to death as he stood on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel.
The University of Dayton, Wright State, Wittenberg University, and Omega Baptist Church also rang bells in honor of King.
