Bengals change stadium security procedures

The Cincinnati Bengals have announced changes to security at Paul Brown Stadium’s entrances for the upcmoing season.

In accordance with the NFL’s Best Practices for Stadium Security, pat downs and gender-specific lines will be done away with. Fans will be screened with a magnetic wand that will detect any metal being brought into the stadium. Attendees will need to have their keys, phones and other metal items in their hands during the wand screening.

The team and league hopes the changes will increase security and improve the fan experience.

“We’re optimistic that as fans get accustomed to this procedure, it will result in less time in line and smaller crowds at the gate prior to kickoff,” Bengals Director of Business Development Bob Bedinghaus said.

The wanding procedure was partially implemented during games near the end of the 2011 season.

Personnel from Whelan Security will handle wanding at all entry points to the stadium.
