"Big Butter Jesus-Part Two"

MONROE, Ohio -- Construction was slated to begin Wednesday on the replacement for the "King of Kings" statue at Solid Rock Church.  The original statue was destroyed by fire after being hit by lightning June 14, 2010.

The Middletown Journal says the new statue will be a full-standing depiction of Jesus, with arms outstretched.

Cincinnati designer Tom Tsuchiya is one of two artists chosen to sculpt the statue.  He is responsible for the design, and for sculpting the head and hands.  His project partner, Steve Brauch of Glasshand LLC will take care of the fabrication.

The statue was originally set to begin in April, but bad weather prevented work.

Most of the statue will be built at the church.  It will stand on 11 feet of boulders and rocks with water flowing out of the rocks into a reflecting pool.  It will be made with a steel substructure and will have a lightning arrester system.  It will be finished with an acrylic-based aggregate which will resemble limestone.
