The device found in the backyard of a Laurelgrove Drive home was described as a homemade firework buried for possibly a decade, police said.
The device was detonated in the area of Valley View Drive.

The Dayton Bomb Squad is on the scene at a home on Laurelgrove Drive in Union this afternoon.
The incident has been going on since at least 2:45 p.m., according to a witness.
Police seem to be centering their investigation in the backyard of a home in the first block of Laurelgrove.
