Police and rescue crews were dispatched to the area at about 5:45 p.m. on a report of a pedestrian struck.
Riverside police officers at the scene did say that the child, who looked to very small and perhaps 50 pounds, was hit pretty hard.
The woman who was driving the vehicle will not be cited, according to police at the scene. They said the child rode out into the street and right in front of the oncoming vehicle.
