Library closed Sept. 3-4

Branches of the Washington-Centerville Public Library will be closed Sept. 3-4 in observance of Labor Day. Regular hours will resume Sept. 5.

Booked for Lunch event Sept. 6

Booked for Lunch is a lunchtime book discussion group that focuses on historical topics. The next meeting will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Smith House in Bill Yeck Park, 2230 E. Centerville Station Road.

Attendees may bring a brown bag lunch, and dessert will be provided.

The book this month is George Washington’s Secret Six: The Spy Ring that Saved the American Revolution, by Brian Kilmeade and Don Yaeger.

Free Friday water classes set for Sept. 1

The Kettering Recreation Complex, 2900 Glengarry Drive, offers free water workout classes the first Friday of each month. The next free day will be held Sept. 1.

All classes are open to the public.

The classes vary, and schedules are posted at the complex and on Facebook.

Canine Cannonball to be held Sept. 9

The water park at the Kettering Recreation Complex, 2900 Glengarry Drive, is open to the dogs from 1-3 p.m. Sept. 9.

Each dog must have an adult with them at all times, and dogs are only permitted off their leashes in the water.

Pre registration is required. All dogs must be licensed and vaccinated. Owners must clean up after their animal. Owners are asked not to bring their dog if she is in heat.

The event will be held rain or shine.

The cost is $10 for residents and $12.50 for nonresidents. The cost is per dog.

Far Hills Music Series now at library

The Far Hills Music Series will feature the Greater Dayton Brass Ensemble at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 7 at Wright Memorial Public Library, 1776 Far Hills Ave.

The Wright Memorial Public Library Foundation will present a series of concerts through October.

The brass ensemble will play jazz, ragtime, classical arrangements and more.

Tech tutoring held at library

Wright Memorial Public Library, 1776 Far Hills Ave., will host tech tutoring Sept. 6, Sept. 13, Sept. 20 and Sept. 27. Appointments are available throughout the day.

A one-on-one training session will be available with a research librarian to help build technical skills, learn new software, find apps, understand a new device and more.
