VANDALIA

Quilts of Valor to visit

The Quilts of Valor will be displayed at the Vandalia Branch Library, 330 S. Dixie Drive, and Quilts of Valor foundations members will be on hand to demonstrate their quilting process. The demonstrations are scheduled May 11, 18 and 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Quilts of Valor Foundation is a national nonprofit established in 2003 by Catherine Roberts, the mother of a young soldier deployed to Iraq. The group gives hand-made quilts to service people who have been deployed to wars across the globe.

ENGLEWOOD

House to be built

Concord United Methodist Church, Englewood, has formed a partnership with Crossroads Mission of Louisville, Ky., to build a house in the church parking lot on May 20 beginning with breakfast at 8 a.m. Registration must be completed at Concord’s website http://www.cumce.net/. by May 13 or until the maximum number of people are registered. TIPP CITY

Mosquito fogging coming

Tipp City will fog for mosquitoes May 16 with a rain date of May 17. The fogging will include the City Park and Kyle Park. Other applications are scheduled for later in May, in June and in August.

The fogging will begin around 9 p.m. and conclude by 3 a.m. It will begin on the west side of the city and move east. Residents are advised by the city to avoid direct contact with fogging mist and close house and automobile windows.

TROY

Renovations showcased

Troy will hold an open house for the renovated Hobart Arena on May 22 from 6-8 p.m. Hobart Arena staff will be on hand to discuss the work done and other information will be available.

Bicycles focus of show

Balance, a juried show of bicycle-based or themed 2D and 3D work, is on display at the Mayflower Arts Center Lobby Gallery through June 24. The show is being held in conjunction with the Sculptures on the Square display of public art by Gilberto Aceves Navarro’s Las Bicicletas. The Mayflower Arts Center is located at 9 W. WACO program set

Antique Aircraft Restorations will be the program focus at the next WACO Historical Society Aviation Lecture Series program May 18 at 7 p.m. Ted Teach of New Carlisle will be the speaker. He was awarded the 2016 Antique Grand Champion award at the Experimental Aircraft Association Air Show in Oshkosh, Wis. The free lecture will be held at the WACO Air Museum, 1865 S.
