Stop by the shop at 1490 N. Fairfield Road, Suite B, Beavercreek

BEAVERCREEK — Cake, Hope & Love is opening its shop at 1490 N. Fairfield Road, Suite B, this weekend.

Owners Shannon Teague of Riverside and Connie McFarren of Kettering have a few goals for their shop.

“I hope what sets us apart is our dining area, it is (designed to be) very laid back and inviting and has free Wi-Fi. We hope people come and hang out with us. Also, when you buy from Cake, Hope & Love, you are giving back to Dayton and we hope that makes a huge difference,” Teague said.

The shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. The shop’s grand opening celebration will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. There will be face painting, along with birthday and wedding cake giveaways. Also, the first 50 people will get free cupcakes.

“We really want this to be a fun day because everyone will be off of work,” Teague said. The shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. “We are really excited (about opening the shop). We have a lot of buzz going on and we are hoping it is going to be a big fun event for everybody,” McFarren said.

Renee Stratton, owner of The Cake Shop, said she has concerns about competition. “I think that Beavercreek is a big enough town that it can support another cake place,” Stratton said. “I would be a fool not to be (worried about this). But each business makes its own niche and I’m sure they will offer something that we don’t, (which) would draw their customer base.”

Cake, Hope & Love’s name and slogan come from The Bible verse found in 1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” The business gives 20 percent of its revenues to the community.

“This is sort of like a tithe back to the community. It is so important to us. Connie and I both made the decision when we signed papers (for the new shop) back in January that we wanted to make sure that we were giving back as much as we got,” Teague said. The business gives to family organizations such as The Hope Foundation and the Ronald McDonald House. It also works with A Special Wish Foundation and Charity: Water.

“Changing the world one cupcake at a time,” Teague said. “That really seems to sum up what we do, just trying to change the world with what we have.”
