Centerville Farmers Market poster contest winners

CENTERVILLE — The Centerville Arts Commission has announced the seven winners of its first annual Farmers Market Poster Contest.

The contest was open from July 27 to Aug. 1 for children ages four to 11.

More than 75 posters that promote healthy eating and the wholesome foods sold at farmers markets were entered.

First and second prizes were awarded in three age categories: 4 to 6, 7 to 8, and 9 to 11, in addition to one Best of Show prize, won by Sam Palumbo, age 10.

All children who submitted a poster will be awarded certificates and prizes which must be picked up at the Centerville Branch of the Washington Centerville Public Library on the following dates; Friday, Aug. 28 between 7 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 29 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The winners are:

Best of Show: Sam Palumbo

First Place, ages 4 to 6: Elizabeth Reese

Second Place, ages 4 to 6: Srinath Jaiprasad

First Place, ages 7 to 8: Rachel Whitehead

Second Place, ages 7 to 8: Autumn Englant

First Place, ages 9 to 11: Christi Price

Second Place, ages 9 to 11: Marie Williams

The Centerville Farmers Market was established by the city of Centerville, with the inspiration of Michael Malone, for the purpose of providing the Centerville community with access to fresh and wholesome goods. Vendors selling locally grown or produced goods also promote and complement the vitality of downtown Centerville’s commerce. Market hours are 1 to 6 p.m. every Thursday until Oct. 29, rain or shine. The Farmer’s Market is in the public parking lot on Maple Avenue in historic downtown Centerville. Winning posters will be displayed at the Farmers Market.
