Century Bar is dishing up a decadent pie and ice cream party

Celebrate the Century Bar’s move to a new location with a slice of pie topped with ice cream.

Pop Up Ice Cream will host Century À La Mode Takeover Sunday, Dec. 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Century Bar’s current location, 10 S. Jefferson St.

The Century is moving next door to 18 S. Jefferson St. It is expected to reopen in early 2020.

When co-owner Diane Spitzig purchased the bar 23 years ago, the Century Bar was famous for its homemade pies, according to the event Facebook page.

“She even made an apple pie for Bill Clinton when he was in town campaigning for re-election! Bill loved it and even took the leftover pie back to the White House on Air Force One,” the event page says.

A re-creation of the “Presidential Pie,” as well as black pepper pumpkin pie, pecan pie, coconut crème pie and custard crème pie will be sold by the slice and the whole pie.

Bourbon ice cream floats and special edition sundaes made with Luxardo Chocolate Sauce and toasted meringue will also be on the menu.

Admission is free and menu items range from $4 for a single scoop of ice cream to $25 for a shareable eight-scoop sundae named after the Fire Blocks District.
