Cincinnati zoo welcomes new baby

There’s a new addition at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden.

A southern tamandua named Isla gave birth Monday, according to the zoo. The baby’s sex hasn’t been determined yet, and it hasn’t been named yet either.

A tamandua is a type of anteater with long snouts that can sniff out small insects like ants, termites and bee colonies. They can eat about nine thousand ants in a day.

Zoo officials said the mom and baby are both in good health and bonding.

The baby weighs nearly 350 grams, less than three-quarters of a pound.
