A 60-year-old Springfield man is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing in February on a charge accusing him of threatening to have a woman beheaded.

The woman is someone Doug Lafferty knows, and he's free on bond charged with one count of domestic violence, according to Clark County Municipal Court records.

According to documents filed with the court, Lafferty made the threat during a phone call to the woman. The threat was recorded into her voice mail, according to court records.

On Jan. 14, Springfield police were dispatched to a home on Broadway about a domestic incident.

The woman accused Lafferty of leaving the threatening voice mails, including the one during which he is alleged to have said he would send someone to her apartment and "have her head cut off," according to a police incident report.
