Moore, the next 2nd Ward representative, is also well known to veterans organizations and charitable causes, including the Springboro Community Action Committee, which he chairs.
“I have and will continue to do anything that is asked of me in Springboro,” he said.
Moore, a resident of Heatherwoode, was born in Hamilton and graduated from West Carrollton High School in 1970.
He was an associate pastor at the Christian Life Center in Vandalia in 1987 when he was commissioned to start a church in Springboro.
While visiting the Assemblies of God district office in Columbus to win support for the new church, Moore met his wife, Carol, who worked there as a secretary.
Together they started the church, for several years farming the land on what was Clearcreek Farm Market, and the church now stands at 1150 S. Main St.
They have a son, Jordan, 19, attending Central Bible College, and a daughter, Alyssa, 15, a sophomore at Springboro High School.
As a councilman, Moore plans to keep an eye on the city-owned golf course adjoining the Heatherwoode development. “You have a beautiful, income-producing asset,” he said. “It’s also a drawing card.”
Otherwise, Moore said he had no agenda, beyond urging a conservative financial approach.
Moore will join Mayor John Agenbroad, a friend and political ally, on the council.
Moore’s community service orientation will help make him a good councilman, Agenbroad said. “He sees the big picture. If you’re in public service, you need to be there for the people,” the mayor said.
