Coronavirus: Planning a yard sale? Follow these guidelines.

The return of warmer weather to Ohio typically also brings yard and garage sales with it. But in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, the Ohio Department of Health issued guidelines on extra precautions for outdoor retail sales.

People having a yard or garage sale should continue to practice social distancing by doing the following:

• Set up tables and chairs 6 feet apart

• Use heavy-duty tape to form a flow for customers to follow throughout the sale

• Have posters and signs encouraging social distancing for customers to see upon arrival

• Ask customers to stand in line, while standing apart, during high-traffic times

Tables and chairs should be cleaned frequently throughout the day.

The ODH also advised that all merchandise should be washed or wiped down with a disinfectant before being placed on a table or chair.

Masks and disposable gloves should be worn at all times and hand sanitizers with at least 60% alcohol should be on tables and other areas for customers to use.
