Counselors at Eaton school in wake of death

Grief counselors were at Eaton Middle School on Monday to help students and staff members deal with the apparent suicide of a 13-year-old seventh-grader.

The Preble County Sheriff's Office is investigating what happened to Dylan Roach, an above-average student, whose body was found Saturday with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Brad Neavin, superintendent of Eaton Community Schools, said Dylan was a bright student who had been tapped for the National Honor Society and he was having a good year.

"Anytime you have a death of a child, there are a lot of questions that arise. What happened? Why did this happen? For some kids, it's just a matter of having someone to talk to."

Counselors and mental health professionals would be at the school again Tuesday to help students and staff members cope with the loss.
