Participants learned how to find coupons online, shop for the holidays, and ways to find and redeem promotional codes to save as much as 75 percent from local retails stores from Lee, a veteran shopper.
“I’m introducing them to another way to shop out of the store,” she said. “It’s not your grandma’s couponing. It’s a new strategy for everyday shopping.”
Those who attended the class had also taken a basic coupon course Lee offered in the summer.
Lee is expected to offer another coupon class at LifeSpan, 1900 Fairgrove Ave. on Nov. 11.
The advanced class offers ways to find the best days and deals at Target, as well ways to get cash back and use multiple Web sites to save money.
“This is going to take them to the next level in saving money,” Lee said.
Valerie Mott, 50, of Fairfield, said Lee’s basic coupon class helped her save and left Thursday’s class excited about the new information she received.
“She really provides a lot of wisdom to make it work,” Mott said.
Lisa Wunn, 51, of Middletown, who has been clipping coupons out of newspapers for years, said Lee offered great advice.
Wunn said coupons help her save 25 percent when she goes grocery shopping, and one year she used up to $1,200 in those savings to finance a family vacation.
“This is a great class and something that’s good for people to learn because money is tight right now for everybody,” Wunn said.
