Two transported to hospital after Mad River Twp. crash; I-70 reopened

The exit ramp to U.S. 68 is open to traffic.

UPDATE @ 3:22 a.m.:

All lanes of I-70 westbound have reopened, although the exit ramp to U.S. 68 remains closed.

UPDATE @ 1:49 a.m.:

Two people have been transported to different hospitals after a crash on I-70 westbound.

One was flown by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital, while the other was driven by ambulance to Springfield Regional Medical Center. Their condition is currently unknown.

The initial reports indicated that three vehicles were involved, but Ohio Highway Patrol has confirmed that only two vehicles were involved in the crash. The third vehicle belonged to a concerned driver who stopped to help.

I-70 is still closed in the westbound direction. At time of writing, traffic was backed up past state Route 72.

UPDATE @ 1:02 a.m.:

Emergency crews have closed I-70 westbound at the scene of the crash. CareFlight has been requested.

INITIAL REPORT:

Emergency crews are responding to a report of an injury crash on westbound Interstate 70 around the 52 mile marker.

Initial reports indicate that three vehicles were involved, and one was on fire before being extinguished.

We have a crew on the way, and will update this story as we receive more information.
