Customer holds robbery suspect for police

Citizens captured a man just minutes after he allegedly robbed a convenience store.

Wyatt L. Covington, 20, was arrested shortly after 4 p.m. on Stewart Street, according to the Logan County Sheriff's Office.

Covington is suspected of using a toy gun to rob the Rushsylvania One Stop store, 125 N. Sandusky St.

The suspect allegedly walked into the store, displayed a handgun and demanded cash, according to authorities.

The suspect then fled on foot after the employees complied with his demands and called 911.

Less than ten minutes later, the Logan County Sheriff received a call that a customer who had entered the store just after the robbery had followed the suspect to Stewart Street and over-powered him with the help of other nearby residents.

The citizens held Covington until deputies arrived to take him into custody.

Deputies confiscated a plastic toy gun and a fixed-blade knife from the suspect and took him to the Logan County Jail.
