Approximately 60,000 people read at or below the third grade level in Montgomery County and the Brunner Literacy Center in Dayton is working to fix that.

The Brunner Literacy Center is a non-profit tutoring organization located at 4825 Salem Ave. The center specializes in one-on-one tutoring to adults age 19 and above who want to improve their reading, writing, and math literacy skills.

Center directors say even a small improvement in reading skills can have big results. “ People who change their reading level from third grade to sixth grade may not end up with a GED, but the quality of their life has increased immensely,” says Celine O`Niell, the center’s executive director.

Tutoring is provided free of charge at the Brunner Literacy Center and you can contact them at 937-567-9600.
