The Dayton Fire Department is accepting applications for recruits through Feb. 14.
Applicants must be at least 16 years old by April 13 and must have a high school diploma or GED by time of appointment.

To become a firefighter, the department requires the successful completion of a written test, a background check, physical agility testing and a medical exam, followed by a contingent offer of employment and an invitation to participate in training at the Dayton Fire Academy.
The department also offers opportunities for advancement and specialization for qualified employees.
The salary range is $51,875 to $69,180, plus benefits.
